The stadium was completed in 1968. A modern 6-lane running track was added in 1998 and refurbished in 2009. The total stadium surface area is 12,380 m2, with 10,908 m2 of training space. The facility is primarily used by secondary school students and the local athletic and football clubs.

The Poseka ski slopes with 8 ha of skiing slopes are located in the immediate vicinity of the stadium. Clay tennis courts with a tennis wall, beach volleyball court, tarmac basketball and volleyball court, picnic area and children's play area are situated between the stadium and the public swimming pool. The Sports Centre with an indoor pool and other facilities is located next to the stadium.
